I’ve been so busy that I haven’t kept up with the blog posts and we are currently at the end of our building process. The cabinets are going in this week (so very excited, heheh)! I had started this post back in December and I’m just now sharing it. We did have a snow this past January and luckily, our house was “in the dry” before it snowed! I’m going to work a little backwards and catch up on the blog posts. So here is the post from December finally finished and posted!
So while waiting for the framing to wrap up, the windows were delivered and installed. The roof shingles were put on where ever they could be to keep the house dry and the chimney was finished. The framers will now be able to finish the roof on the side of the porch and the house will then be “in the dry”, hopefully before we see any snow!
A few other big projects have been happening as well. Of course our well was put in weeks ago but also the electrical was roughed in this week and the kitchen cabinets have been drawn out on the floor.
We have big plans for a six foot island in the middle of the kitchen. I worked with the cabinet company rep. to design an island that will allow us to pull up stools on the side as well. This is going to be a great place for casual meals, prep work, talking, and making lots of family memories. I’ve always wanted butcher block counters. I love how the wood warms up a white kitchen. Although, we decided on a granite for the counter tops, I am getting my butcher block on the island! I am also very excited about the granite we picked too. I can’t wait to see it all come together!
Here are some pictures of the house with the windows and roof and one of interior picture of the fireplace! For some reason I can’t find the pictures I took of building the exterior of the chimney. I will plan to add it as soon as I find them!
